Hi guys!
It would really be great if we could share information and fotos of our trips which might be useful for foreign riders who either want to enjoy a weekend or a whole riding holiday in Italy!
That's why I thought of "Best Biking Roads TCP", which actually, is named after one of the most popular web sites for bikers, but....obviously, is going to be in TCP style
I'm looking forward to reading all of your contributions, meanwhile, I will start with one of my own favourite places: Val d'Orcia (Orcia valley), which more or less goes straight from Buonconvento, in the south of the province of Siena, down to northern Lazio.
In August, the Orcia valley offers magnificent views and breathtaking scenes over the famous Tuscan hills, covered with sunflowers, but it surely is stunning all year round!
You can ride for miles along winding roads without meeting anybody, just surrounded by nature and you can stop for a cappuccino in the beautiful Pienza with its little renaissance "Vicoli" and Palace Piccolomini and churches....
In the evening, when red skies start gleaming, you can sit in the garden of a good Osteria, in San Quirico or Bagno Vignoni, and sip a glass of good red wine while eating the local Pici al Cacio e Pepe or a finger lickin' good fiorentina or filetto di cinta......and when the night draws in, the silky moon rises up in the sky....time for romance.......It's bliss....
This was my first trip during my summer holidays, after the transfer journey from the north of Italy, where I live:
MONTALCINO - ABB. S. ANTIMO - CASTELNUOVO DELL'ABATE - CAMPIGLIA D'ORCIA - BAGNI S. FILIPPO - RADICOFANI - CETONA - MONTICCHIELLO - MONTEPULCIANO - PIENZA - SAN QUIRICO D' ORCIA - BAGNO VIGNONI
da Montalcino Fortezza a Bagno Vignoni, San Quirico d'Orcia SI - Google Maps

This report is dedicated to my dearest friend "Swanky" who took some of these pictures for me
Roads were really gorgeous, winding and in good maintenance conditions, simply perfect for a bike ride!
