Apologies for what seems like high cost... but I can tell you, making these cups is
not a 5-minute job

Yes... Probably I say that because I really don't know the real job behind them... At me they look like simple cups.
And because adding shipping cost they are over my budget.

The fact is that I would to lower a bit the headlight and flat the instruments, but i also want to mount the original (but modified) fairing... So the instruments cups are not estetically important... They will be hidden. This is why I'm looking for a cheap solution and don't want to spend a lot.
I wonder if I could get them cheaper in the "raw" version without finish...

But first of all I have to check how to move the different things to get my idea come true: if I move the headlight to the regulator position probably I'll have space between it and the instruments. And mounting your shorter cups the space will be much more.
So I have to try with some drawnings and spend some time to undestand which solution I have to follow.


Insomma... Vorrei avere il faro più basso, gli strumenti con flangia dritta con poco/niente spazio tra loro e il faro stesso, e inoltre cupolino originale tagliato in altezza a fare solo un piccolo arco sopra il faro.
Guardo il supporto faro di Betto che lo abbassa e avvicina alle forcelle, ma poi ho paura che sia troppo basso e ci sia troppo spazio tra lui e gli strumenti. E non so se riesco poi a montare il cupolino originale...
La soluzione di D9 invece tiene il faro praticamente ad altezza normale.
Devo fare un po' di prove con pezzi di cartone, perché forse nessuno ha provato un montaggio simile...

Some observations I would like to share...

If a fairing / wind-screen / flyscreen is used, the pleasing aesthetic effect
of lowering the instruments with a non-angled or flat instrument bracket is
much less obvious than on a un-faired or "naked" bike - depending on the size and design of the fly
screen or wind screen, the lowering effect can even be mostly lost.

The alloy instrument cups are not shorter than the stock plastic cups - the connectors inside will not really allow use of
a shorter cup, unfortunately.

Pre-VDO / non-Canbus cups are available unfinished - however, the VDO / Canbus cups use a petite, multi-part
push-button assembly, and must be installed into the cup with special tools after cups are finished.

I have seen some really excellent do-it-yourself cups over time in various Triumph forums, and am
always impressed by the resourcefulness and skills of Hinckley Twin owners. If you have
some skills and some tools, this a good way to get really inexpensive, beautiful cups - flasks,
thermos bottle tops, and camp cups have all been used

io pensavo di rivestirle ...
è ancora soltanto un' idea , ma la plastica che hanno mi sembra pessima , le soluzioni proposte nei vari siti specializzati costano una follia , per cui ero dell' idea che prima o poi ci avrei fatto un rivestimento metallico , con la giuntura per sotto ovviamente , così non si vede .

I know that a front fairing will reduce the aesthetic impact of the flat instruments... but at this moment I like so much the look of a little, "cutted on height" fairing... in the future I'll may take it away, but now I like it.

But what is music to my ears is that your "alloy cups are not shorter than the stock plastic cups"... if this is true (and I think it is if you said so) I can skip spending for the new cups, for now! And I can flat the instruments without changing them, but only swapping the headlight support!
So I had a misunderstanding looking at the various bikes installing your accessories... sorry.

Tranquillo che ci sta! ho il supporto di betto è una staffa tipo quella di free spirit per la strumentazione singola e ci sta giusta a filo.

Scusate l'ignoranza abissale, sicuramente nel forum c'e' qualche esperto in verniciatura,
ma in qualche bricocenter ho visto delle vernici spary color cromo, oro, allumino e quant'altro.
Pulendo bene le coperture, scarteggiando con carta vetro fine, passando qualche mano di primer per plastica , per poi infine passare alla vernice cromo non potrebbe funzionare ?

Tra tutto ci va qualche ora di lavoro e una cinquantina di neuri ...

Assolutamente no!! Semmai rivestire con pellicola cromata...l'effetto è piu' realistico.

la vernici cromate non danno l' effetto desiderato
Nella cromatura vera , il cromo polverizzato si attacca direttamente alla superficie , diventando a specchio .
La vernice cromata contiene un mix di polvere di cromo e colla nebulizzata .
L' effetto va da un grigio chiaro con tratti a macchie lucenti ( nella migliore delle ipotesi ) , ad un grigione opaco

Piuttosto si potrebbe dare lo zinco spray , ottimo prodotto , e poi il lucido , Se è un lavoro accurato , assomiglia all' alluminio lucidato ( non a specchio , ovvio , ma luminoso )

Ci sono aziende che cromano la plastica ( cerca Galvanoplastica ) , ma non so come avvenga il processo , se la plastica delle nostre coppette strumenti è idonea , gli eventuali costi di spedizione e lavoro , nè tantomeno se il risultato finale è soddisfacente

Solo che non ho idea di come fanno a realizzarlo...

Con un processo elettronico. Prima verniciano a polvere con prodotto speciale conduttore e poi fanno la cromatura in bagno elettronico.
